"Exploring the Art of Theatre Costume Design" aims to introduce you to the world of costume design in the theatre, allowing you to express your artistic talents, develop your creativity, and learn valuable skills with professional theatre and TV costume designer Devon Spencer (@NashvilleCostume.com). This workshop aims to inspire and educate participants about the fascinating world of costume design in theatre. By the end of this one-day event, you'll have a deeper appreciation for the role of costumes in storytelling and a newfound skill set that allows you to embark on your journey in the world of theatre design. We believe that this workshop will provide participants with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience, fostering their creativity and passion for the arts. We look forward to offering an unforgettable learning experience for aspiring costume designers.
Morning Session (10:00AM - 12:00 PM)
● Introduction to Theatre Costume Design
● The historical significance of costumes in theatre
● Elements of design: color, texture, and shape
● Fabric selection and budget considerations
● Practical exercises and interactive discussions
Lunch Break (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM)
Afternoon Session (1:00PM-3:00 PM)
●Study of scenes for character analysis and design inspiration
● Hands-on costume design activity
● Presentation and group discussion

● Open to anyone female-identifying, age 12 and up
